SC Housing believes that every citizen in South Carolina deserves the opportunity to own their own home.

County First is a rural initiative designed to provide potential homebuyers, in underserved communities, with additional resources when local economic conditions make homeownership difficult. Funding is available for both first-time or move-up borrowers. The program includes forgivable down payment assistance and special fixed rate financing. Borrowers can choose FHA, USDA or VA financing.

Do I Qualify?

County First funding is available to homebuyers in the following targeted counties

Abbeville, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Calhoun, Cherokee, Chester, Chesterfield, Clarendon, Colleton, Darlington, Dillon, Edgefield, Fairfield, Georgetown, Hampton, Jasper, Kershaw, Laurens, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, McCormick, Newberry, Orangeburg, Saluda, Union, Williamsburg 

The program requirements are the same as our SC Homebuyer Program for income and home price limits. Properties that can be financed include single-family residences, condominiums, townhomes and modular homes.
